Patient question
I have melasma and I want to get proper treatment for it. I have been using some creams that help lighten the dark patches on my skin, and I notice improvement while I continue using them. However, whenever I stop applying the creams, the pigmentation gradually returns. This has been happening repeatedly, and it is becoming frustrating because the results are only temporary. I would like to find a long-term solution instead of relying on creams that only provide short-term improvement. I am looking for a treatment that addresses the underlying cause of my melasma and helps prevent it from coming back. I also want to understand whether lifestyle changes, sun protection, medications, or professional treatments such as chemical peels or laser therapy would be more effective. My goal is to achieve lasting improvement and reduce the chances of the pigmentation recurring after I stop using topical creams.
