About
I have done MBBS from Allama Iqbal Medical College and 1-year internship from Jinnah Hospital Lahore. I am a permanent medical officer with an experience of 5 years and I am also registered with the UK General Medical Council having a license to practice in England. Currently, I am working as a specialist in the ENT department and performing the following duties:- My duties include:- A.(Ward duty) 1. Doing morning rounds and making sure the completion of the tasks given below: -Sending patients for x-rays, CT scans and blood tests. -Following reports. -Changing wound dressings, suctioning through tracheostomy tubes, incision and drainage of abscess in local anesthesia. - Reviewing medications . 3. Removing foreign bodies of ear, nose and throat. 4. Performing emergency tracheostomy under local anesthesia. 5. Applying nasal packs in patients of uncontrolled epixtaxis. 6. Preparing patients for elective OT by:- > Confirming their fitness for anesthesia. >Making them nill by mouth at 12:00 am. B.(Operation theater duty) 1. Performing procedures like:- >Removal of nasal splints >Nasal packing >Incision and drainage >NG tube insertion >Tracheostomy >Tonsillectomy >Removal of foreign bodies from ear, nose and throat. C. (Outdoor patient department duty) >Taking history and doing an examination of:- a. Ear by tuning fork test, otoscopy, Romberg test and endoscopy. b. Nose by anterior and posterior rhinoscopy, patency test and endoscopy. c. Throat by indirect laryngoscopy and endoscopy. >Making records of patient biodata and admitting the patient to the ENT ward. >Writing medications for patients. In my professional career, I have always emphasized taking consent and offering confidentiality and empathy toward the patient. These qualities are essential in creating a solid bond between healthcare professionals and patients, which mere diagnosing and treating patients cannot achieve. Moreover, to have a healthy workplace environment, it is mandatory to be helpful to your colleagues. The excellence we can achieve by working as a team transcends what we can accomplish individually. Working in a secondary care hospital, where we lack advanced diagnosing and treating facilities, for most of my career, I have observed that only having a good grasp of medical knowledge is not sufficient while dealing with patients. It is mandatory to have the skill to communicate effectively with patients, which as a doctor, I am doing in the best possible way. And to fulfil that, a healthcare professional should have a firm grip on the common languages of the area they are working in. I have always strived to learn new languages to be able to converse with patients and attendants in the most effective way. I can eloquently understand and speak Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi, Saraiki, and English.
